The CROWN of CHRIST - Understanding the Times in the Light of Scripture
Democrazy America's Godless System
The United States is not a Christian Nation - as it ought to be.
DEMOCRACY IS NOT BIBLICAL
Americans mistakenly think that democracy is the right form of government, as if the rule of the majority was an eternal principle of justice. But the system is nothing more noble than the dictatorship of the 51%. Popularity simply isn't the same thing as truth.
In the United States, many things that the God of the Bible condemns - idolatry, witchcraft, Sabbath-breaking, adultery, sodomy and abortion for a few examples - are treated as freedoms to be defended. Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil... Deuteronomy 23:2a
GOVERNMENT BY WE-THE-PEOPLE IS NOT BIBLICAL
Americans are humanists. We say that the source of civil authority is in the citizens themselves - a government of the people, by the people and for the people. But the Bible teaches that magistrates are representatives of God, not of the voters! Deuteronomy 17:15-19, Proverbs 20:8, 25:25, 29:2, Romans 13:2&3
PLURALISM, TOLERANCE AND FREEDOM OF RELIGION ARE MYTHS
Americans claim to impose no morality, to respect all faiths, to allow all freedom of religion - but are they honest? Can a Muslim come here with four wives and have their legitimacy recognized? It is, after all, his religion. Can a Satanist offer human sacrifices? Don't we just enforce the changing opinions of the majority - opinions that largely come from watering down Christian moral principles?
In the United States we have no freedom of religion, only freedom of worship. We can privately perform a variety of rituals, sing a variety of anthems, pray to a variety of "gods" - as long as our laws, educational system and public life are humanistic. In reality, freedom of religion is impossible. Somebody's morality is always enforced. It is a man-made civil religion of American greatness and exceptionalism. Is the morality of men more just than the morality of God ? Americans say yes, and would find God's actual laws horrifying. Exodus 31:14, Numbers 15:32 ff., Leviticus 20:10, 24:10-16, Deuteronomy 13, 22:21&22
TRADITIONAL AMERICAN VALUES ARE NOT BIBLICAL GODLINESS
U. S. politicians regularly pontificate on the "greatness and goodness of the American People". Whether they are advocates of traditional family values or progressivism, they all agree that the mob can be expected to rise to every crisis, find out the right and rescue the world for the cause of truth and justice.
But God says that human beings are basically evil, not inherently good. People cannot be trusted to develop their own morality and laws; nor can the selfish mob improve upon the laws of God. Genesis 6:5, Psalms 51:5, 58:3, Ecclesiastes 7:29, Hosea 6:7, Romans 3:10-12
UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE IS NOT BIBLICAL
The democratic vision has historically led to steady expansion of the suffrage. The question was once asked: How can we draft a man to fight for the country but not allow him to vote for the politicians who start the wars? However, we gave the vote equally to hippie draft-resisters - and the draft isn't Scriptural anyway.
But children are forced to attend schools. How can we "draft" them via the truancy laws without giving them a voice in the government that runs the schools? I can hear them marching in the streets: "No education without representation!" The notion that nobody can be expected to obey unless they also rule is a ridiculous Utopian fantasy.
Biblical Christians understand the principle of federal headship, and have no fear of a limited suffrage. Adam, our first father, sinned on our behalf. Christ, the Second Adam, died in place of His elect. Romans 5:12-14, 19 Free adult male tax-payers can vote as representatives of their families. There is no need for women, children, prison inmates or welfare-recipients to vote.
FEMINISM IS NOT BIBLICAL
The Bible warns that the lack of godly male leadership is a curse on a nation. In the Bible, the only righteous queens are like Esther, who did not rule. Queens like Jezebel, Athaliah and Herodias are examples of wicked usurpers. Paul tells us that men are to govern women, and Isaiah compares the lack of male rulers to a famine. 1 Corinthians 11:3, Isaiah 3:1-4, 12a Christians should not vote for Sarah Palin any more than they would vote for Hillary Clinton. A godly wife is to stay home and follow her husband, not go out to rule a State or Empire. Titus 2:5
THE OBLIGATION TO VOTE IS NOT BIBLICAL
Americans speak of voting as a duty. If you won't play the game you can't win. And if you didn't vote then don't complain. But who said governance is a game? And what right have you to complain if you played the game and lost? We preserve our right to criticize the system precisely by not participating in it. 2 Corinthians 6:14&15, Ephesians 5:11
Christians surely have no moral duty to choose the lesser of two evils. Evil is evil, and should be confronted even if found in high places. 2 Samuel 12:1-14, Matthew 10:16-20, Mark 6:18&19, Luke 13:31-35, Acts 26:27&28
Jesus Christ is the King of kings, and He should rule each nation from pole to pole. We have no right to do wrong! Psalms 2, 72, 102:13-16, 1 Corinthians 15:25, Ephesians 1:20-22
